The Place At The End Of The River

Hi there! Here's a little one-song soundtrack I made for the Friendly Music Jam 2! This game doesn't exist, but I like to think it would be a relaxing, fun, and contemplative one if it did.

The picture theme was a place that looked like it was along a river and I got to thinking of it as this idyllic place, almost like a pleasant place to spend the afterlife. So my imagined game transformed to a music game where you tap buttons along to the song and help the boat pass obstacles on the river as you take a newly passed soul to their afterlife. Ideally, there would have been more songs but the jam was a short time period so I tried to fit a full story in five minutes. The player plays as Goddard Stryke, the captain of the No More. They help get characters who pass to the place at the end of the river. Throughout the journey, he helps them shed the doubts, fears, and shames that weighed them down in life. In the end, they meet the end, whatever that may be.

I used the picture as a goal for the players to get to and for the soundfonts in this piece, I used various sounds from Metroid- from the angel voices in the beginning to the water throughout the whole piece.

This is written for the people in life that we've lost. May whatever is ahead be peaceful.
